     James Newton Weikly served in the U.S. Navy, enlisting on 3 May 1876 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He served on the U.S.S. Essex in search of survivors of a ship which sank while searching for survivors of the Stanley expedition.5,3 He and Louisa Warner were living in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, in 1900.7 He and Louisa Warner were living in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, in 1930.8 He was a locomotive engineer for the Jersey Central Railroad, retiring in 1930.5 He was an inventor. Among his inventions were the Weikly Safety Angle Cock and Lock, the Weikly Drifting Valve, Slide-Valve, and Feed-Valve.5
