     Thomas Noel first appears on the Venango County tax rolls 1826, taxed for 100 acres and 1 cow in Cherrytree Township. The property was formerly owned by L. Rirdon.1 The Tarrs first farmed in Cherrytree Township on land formerly belonging to Jacob's father, just west of Cherrytree Village. Here Jacob was taxed for 200 acres in 1824 and 1825 and for 214 acres from 1826 through 1828.2,3 John Baney was taxed for one cow but no land in Cherrytree Township in 1830.4 Frederick Benninghoff was taxed for 2 horses and 1 cow in Cherrytree Township in 1830.5 John Baney was taxed for 138 acres in Cherrytree Township in 1832. which was purchased from James Lebby. The land was valued at $77.28 and he paid a tax of 88 cents.6 Frederick Benninghoff was taxed for 384 acres in Cherrytree Township in 1832. A notation in the assessment records show that this land was either formerly or partly owned by John Tarr, Frederick's neighbor.7 Frederick Benninghoff was taxed for 192 acres, or half of the 384 acres in Cherrytree Township in 1833.8 Frederick Benninghoff was taxed for only 92 acres in Cherrytree Township in 1834. The assessment records suggest that Frederick gave or sold 100 acres to his son Peter. Frederick apparently sold the remaining 92 acres to a Mr. Henry.9 Frederick Benninghoff was taxed for 92 acres, 1 horse, 1 cow, and 40 acres, formerly James Morrison in Cherrytree Township in 1837.10 Frederick Benninghoff was taxed for 42 1/2 acres, part of Peter Bennyhoff in Cherrytree Township in 1838.
